Economy booming in Levelland

Levelland isn't the same town it was five years ago.
A surging growth spurt that started about three years ago shows no signs of slowing as 2007 ranked as one of the busiest ever for Levelland.
More than $3.3 million in new housing was built between Jan. 1 and Dec. 1 of this year - the most ever recorded in the city of 13,000 residents 30 miles west of Lubbock. The current construction boom in Levelland is vastly different from the construction that was taking place in the city even just five years ago.

Citizens, Foundation Establish Levelland Endowment

The citizens of Hockley County have joined forces with the Lubbock Area Foundation to create an endowment for their community.
Citizens raised $120,000 to establish the Levelland Area Endowment, the first affiliate endowment of the Lubbock Area Foundation. As a result of their success, the Lubbock Area Foundation will award a matching grant of $50,000, bringing the total raised for the Levelland Area Endowment to more than $170,000.
