City of Levelland


Levelland is a city in Hockley County, (Wikipedia Link) Texas, in the United States. 2016 estimated population is 14,212.  As of the 2010 census, the city population was 13,542. It is the county seat of Hockley County. It is located on the Llano Estacado, (Wikipedia Link) west of Lubbock. Major industries include cotton farming, petroleum production and manufacturing. It is the home of South Plains College.

Tax Increment Reinvestment Zones (TIF or TIRZ)

The City of Levelland has created two TIF/TIRZ districts.  TIF #1 is focused on Industrial Development and TIF #2 is focused on residential housing development.  Please see the link for more information.


Hockley County, TX


Hockley County (population 23,021)

 was named for George W. Hockley, secretary of war under Sam Houston.  Levelland is the county seat. Hockley County is in northwestern Texas, south of the panhandle and on the Llano Estacado, bordered on the east by Lubbock County.  The county comprises 908 square miles of generally flat land.  The elevations range from 3,300 to 3,650 feet above sea level.  Soils vary from clay loam to sandy loam, with most of the latter in the western and southern regions.
