County beats unemployment rate for state

Hockley County continued to beat the state's unemployment rate as the Texas Workforce Commission reported the county's unemployment rate in November was 3.2 percent.  

Texas seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 3.8 percent, setting a new record for the lowest unemployment rate recorded in four decades.  The Texas economy added 54,500 seasonally adjusted nonfarm jobs in November.  Annual  employment growth for Texas increased to 2.7 percent in November, marking 91 consecutive months of annual growth.  The county's labor force remained stable at 11,015 with 10,658 people working and 357 unemployed.  

The county's unemployment rate for November is the best since 2014, when it was also 3.2 percent.  In November of last year the county's unemployment rate was 4.1 percent, in November, 2015, it was 4.4 percent; in November, 2014, it was 3.2 percent, in November, 2013, it was 4.5 percent: in in November 2011, it was 5.6 percent and in November, 2010, the unemployment rate was 6.5 percent.
