Levelland public schools proudly boast high ratings and comprehensive academic programs, and the city is home to a community/technical college that supports the workforce in the community. Residents also have access to a number of higher education institutions in less than a two-hour drive.

Levelland ISD

Founded in 1922, Levelland ISD  provides students and families with a quality education that prepares each student for their own unique future. LISD strives to provide a path to academic success for all students and recognizes that every student has a different path and pace for learning and supports learning for all students.

Levelland residents have access to a range of education options to suit their individual needs, including a two-year community/technical college and state/private universities. These institutions educate the future workforce pipeline of Levelland and provide valuable workforce training opportunities.

South Plains College (SPC)

South Plains College is a comprehensive two-year community college where academic and technical opportunities merge. Levelland is the proud home of SPC’s main campus. Whether earning an associate degree, transferring credits to a major university, or beginning a new technical career, SPC offers more than 100 program options to help students achieve their dreams in a student-centered learning environment built on personal attention and success. 

Workforce Training Opportunities at SPC

SPC is the region's leader in workforce training in the South Plains of West Texas. The college offers numerous training programs and is the source for administering and delivering Texas Workforce Commission Skills Development Fund grants and training.

 SPC collaborates with business and industry to develop workforce training classes and programs to upgrade the technical skills of present employees and teach job-entry skills to potential employees. Courses can be conducted in the college’s state-of-the-art classrooms or onsite at your business.

Texas Tech University (TTU)

Located just 30 minutes east of Levelland, Texas Tech University prides itself on being a major comprehensive research university that retains the sense of a smaller liberal arts institution. TTU has a student enrollment of over 40,000 and has achieved recognition as a Tier 1 university. TTU students come from every county in Texas, all 50 states, and more than 90 foreign countries.

TTU offers 150 undergraduate degree programs through 11 academic colleges, a graduate school, and a school of law. TTU also offers more than 100 master’s and 50 doctoral degrees.

Wayland Baptist University (WBU)

Wayland Baptist University began in 1908 as the dream of pioneers who respected the life-altering value of education. Now the oldest university in continuous existence on the High Plains of Texas, WBU reaffirms that commitment every day through a distinctive combination of offerings, including majors in 93 disciplines, 65 unique graduate/master’s programs, a doctoral program, and 12 pre-professional programs. Its main campus is located in Plainview, Texas, with additional Texas campuses in Amarillo, Lubbock, San Antonio, and Wichita Falls.

Lubbock Christian University (LCU)

Established in 1957 by members of the Churches of Christ, Lubbock Christian University provides quality education through its mission and values of spirituality, support, and service to family, community, and church.

LCU offers 84 undergraduate and 20 graduate degrees and programs that cover a broad spectrum of disciplines, a Scholars Colloquium, and an Honors College. LCU boasts a 12:1 student-faculty ratio and has been recognized by the U.S. News & World Report as a Top 20 Comprehensive College in the Western Region.

West Texas A&M University (WT)

Part of the Texas A&M University System, West Texas A&M University is a public university located in Canyon, Texas. WT provides nationally ranked programs with 62 undergraduate programs, 41 master’s degree programs, and one doctoral program. The university also has two branches in Amarillo: downtown and at Harrington Academic Hall.

WT Canyon campus is home to the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum. The museum opened in 1933 in a 25,000-square-foot building and, over the years, has grown to over 285,000 square feet, making it the largest State-supported museum in Texas.
